John Heartfield

Book design and photomontage – a collection.

The catalogue envelops 220 pages in quarto with numerous coloured images. An unusually extensive collection of the works of John Heartfield is documented in this catalogue, which makes it possible to obtain an overview of Heartfields works as a maker of photomontages and a graphic designer. The titles are ordered by their year of publication at first and by alphabet secondarily. Besides photomontages and book jackets, brochures, front pages and other printed matter a special chapter contains at least two thirds of the editions of Arbeiter Illustrierte Zeitung (AIZ) and Volks-Illustrierte (VI), for which Heartfields photomontages were made.

All of the individual works are documented bibliograhically and are annotated in German.
